Update on Agape Flights

Taken from the Agape Flights Website, I thought I would keep you up to date if you are interested.

****AGAPE MAKES UNSCHEDULED LANDING IN THE BAHAMAS****
April 1, 2009 - Eleuthera , Bahamas - At approximately 11:15 am Agape Flights was notified their King Air 90 airplane made an unscheduled landing in the Bahamas.

Pilots Jeff Yannucciello and Steve Koch were only thirty minutes from their departure airport in Eleuthera, Bahamas, when the airplane underwent mechanical failure. Fortunately, the pilots were able to make an critical landing at a small airport located in the north Bahamas.

“We were very lucky to be able to reach the airport and make an accurate landing,” said Yannucciello. “I really feel that God was watching out for us.”

This flight was one of 52+ flights made each year by Agape. Each week the King Air 90 is loaded with a shipment of mail, care packages and critical supplies that are delivered to missionaries serving throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic .

“Agape Flights is very impressed with the pilots and their ability to land a fully loaded airplane under such extreme circumstances”, said Paul Prachar, an Agape Flights ministry leader. “We give all the glory to God.”

Both pilots are uninjured and have made arrangements to ensure that the cargo on board will be transported to the missionaries as soon as possible. A missionary partner of Agape Flights has donated the use of his airplane to continue the route to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Agape Flights is a non-profit Christian ministry providing critical relief services to over 380 affiliated missionary families in Haiti , the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Agape continually serves these families providing coordination and support in six critical areas of human need: supplies, education, community health, clean water, vocational training and micro-enterprise community development programs. Each year, Agape Flights touches the lives of over 1,500,000 men, women and children. Agape is thankful to be able to serve the needs of so many people living in poverty.

An update for the followers of Agape's recent mechanical failure in north Eleuthera, Bahamas :
Dave Spangler, a missionary serving in the Caribbean, volunteered his plane to continue the route to Haiti.

On Wednesday Dave, Jeff and Steve took half the cargo load and dropped it off in Cap Haitien and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. They traveled back to north Eleuthera to pick up the second load and delivered it early today. They are currently returning to the north Eleuthera.

Agape is coordinating a volunteer pilot to pick up Jeff and Steve on Friday. Agape mechanics will fly to north Eleuthera as soon as possible to begin work on the airplane.
